A note from Phil Drescher

03/23/2010

Steve, It was good to see you and Nancy last weekend in Great Falls and it was even better to hear how well your sales went. I am sure the two of you are exhausted after running back and forth to cover the different venues where Nancy’s presence was required. Your success in Great Falls is, however, not unexpected. Nancy’s work is in increasing demand. And that really isn’t much of a surprise. What Nancy has done with her French dye on silk paintings is create a new western art form, a new western art genre, if you will. It is one thing to grow and become with experience and practice a better water colorist, oil painter or sculptor. A lot of artists do that. But what Nancy has done is different. She has gone where no one else has gone before. Only a very few have done that. Two artists that have done so come to mind. They are Pablo Picasso and Maria Martinez. Picasso pushed his art into uncharted territory. Maria created or rediscovered a new type of Indian pottery. Nancy belongs in their company because she has done something similar. What she has done is new, different, fresh, envigorating and really quite wonderful. Think of all the people who didn’t buy Picasso or Maria early when they were breaking out of the past and creating something new. By the time a lot of people realized what was happening, it was too late to buy at affordable prices. Nancy’s work provides a rare opportunity for art purchasers to get in on the ground floor and purchase something new and unique before prices go out of sight. How wonderful for art collectors and how truly wonderful for you and Nancy. Best personal regards, Phil
